Toyota Mark X GRX 130 Headlight Upgrade: Stock Xenon to Bi-LED Projectors

13 August 2026
  • Bi-LED Projectors

Article

This Toyota Mark X GRX 130 came to us with its factory Xenon headlights. We replaced the original setup with Bi-LED projectors, fitting the new projectors inside the existing headlight housing.

We kept the original headlight design while upgrading the internal lighting system and improving the beam performance.

From Factory Xenon to Bi-LED Projectors

The Mark X GRX 130 was originally fitted with Xenon headlights. For this project, we removed the factory lighting setup and installed Bi-LED projectors in its place.

The Bi-LED projectors provide both low beam and high beam from the same unit. We fitted them inside the existing headlight housing rather than adding separate lamps to the outside of the vehicle.

This allowed us to upgrade the lighting system without changing the exterior appearance of the Mark X's headlights.

Low Beam and High Beam

The upgraded Bi-LED projectors provide both low- and high-beam functions. On this Mark X GRX 130, the setup reaches 200 metres on low beam and over 350 metres on high beam.

The low beam provides the main illumination for normal night driving. The projector produces a defined cutoff that keeps the light directed toward the road.

The high beam extends the illuminated area farther ahead when additional forward lighting is needed. It should be used on suitable sections of road where there is no oncoming traffic or vehicle ahead that could be affected by the additional light.

Installing the Bi-LED Projectors

We installed the projectors inside the Mark X's original headlight housing. Positioning the projector correctly is an important part of the retrofit. Its position inside the housing affects the final beam pattern, so we made sure the projectors were correctly positioned before completing the installation.

After fitting the projectors, we checked the headlights and aligned the beams. This allowed us to set the low beam at the correct height and ensure the high beam was directed where it should be.

Keeping the Original Headlight Design

One of the things we wanted to retain on this Mark X was the original headlight appearance.

Because we fitted the Bi-LED projectors inside the factory housing, we did not need to add external lighting components or replace the complete headlight assembly. The vehicle keeps its original headlight design while the lighting system inside has been upgraded.

Warranty and Service Life

The Bi-LED projector system we installed comes with a 2-year warranty. The projectors are also specified with a service life of over 30,000 hours.
