The Audi Q5 in this project came with factory D3S Xenon bulbs for the low-beam headlights and factory fog lights. We upgraded the low beams to NaoEvo D3Pro LED bulbs and replaced the original fog light bulbs with NaoEvo Tri-Color LED fog light bulbs.
The finished setup delivers over 150 metres of reach on low beam and more than 300 metres on high beam. The fog lights also offer three selectable light colours for different driving conditions.
D3S Xenon to D3Pro LED
We replaced the Q5's factory D3S Xenon bulbs with NaoEvo D3Pro LEDs. This converted the low-beam lighting from Xenon to LED without replacing the entire headlight assembly.
After fitting the bulbs, we checked their operation and inspected the beam pattern.
NaoEvo Tri-Color LED Fog Lights
We also replaced the factory fog light bulbs with NaoEvo Tri-Color LEDs. The driver can switch between three colours:
- White for everyday use.
- Warm white for a warmer light output.
- Yellow for situations where the driver prefers a yellow beam, including some foggy or dusty conditions.
The appropriate setting depends on visibility and road conditions. Drivers should still reduce speed when visibility is poor.
Beam Performance
After the installation, we checked the beam pattern and alignment to make sure the upgraded headlights were projecting correctly on the road.
The NaoEvo D3Pro LED low beams reached over 150 metres, while the high beam reached more than 300 metres on this vehicle. The final beam pattern was checked after installation to ensure the light was properly aimed and evenly distributed.
We also replaced the factory fog light bulbs with NaoEvo Tri-Color LED fog lights. These can be switched between white, warm white, and yellow, giving the driver different colour options depending on the road and weather conditions.
Installation and Final Checks
We installed the D3Pro LEDs in the low-beam headlights and the Tri-Color LEDs in the fog lights. We then checked the lights and their beam alignment.
The correct bulb fitment and any electrical requirements should be confirmed for the specific Audi Q5 model year before installation.
Final Setup
The completed Audi Q5 setup now consists of:
- NaoEvo D3Pro LED bulbs for the low-beam headlights
- NaoEvo Tri-Color LED fog lights
- Over 150 metres of low-beam reach
- More than 300 metres of high-beam reach
We checked the installation, beam alignment and operation of all the lights before completing the upgrade.
